Hotel Balboa Lobby

Steampunk Hospitality

Named after one of California's early explorers, the Balboa Hotel continues that adventurous spirit right in its lobby. Embracing a steampunk theme, this space has become a favorite among ComicCon visitors.

The lobby is inspired by an airship hangar. On the ground floor, guests can check-in and enjoy a cup of coffee and some conversation in the lobby café. From there, they "board the airship" by climbing the staircase to the Brews and Boards restaurant.

The Hanger/Lobby

Hotel Balboa's lobby renovation turned it into a steampunk hangar that caters to board gaming and fantasy lovers. The lobby embraces Victorian industrial architecture, featuring concrete columns. Guests can relax in the coffee shop before heading up to the second level.

Coffee and Co-Work

The coffee shop is divided into two parts: the bar and a quiet work area for patrons who need a peaceful workplace.

The Zeppelin

The main restaurant and gaming area, "The Zeppelin," is on the second story. This space offers plenty of seating, tables for board gaming, and a library. Decorative panels mimic the sides of a historic airship, and large custom tables provide ample room for gaming while offering a view of the "hangar" below.

The main design element here is the highlighted wall in the section above which uses decorative panels to mimic the sides of a historical airship.

Custom large tables) provide unique seating with a view to the “hanger”.
